MPI
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
MPI is a method of non destructive testing used to detect any surface cracks in the materials.
This is restricted to magnetic materials only as MPI uses an electric current to produce a magnetic field; which when it locates a crack or fracture then the magnetic field is forced outside of the materials surface and produces leakage.
This leakage attracts any other other magnetic materials that is close to the leakage site and allows detection of a surface flaw, taking the shape of the fracture that has broken the magnetic field.
